Spam block statistics
"Spam" - or unsolicited bulk email is an ever growing problem on the Internet. Here at IronCreek.net we filter an incredible amount of spam emails per day. The graph below helps to visualize the problem.
By securing our own outgoing mail server as much as possible, selecting vendors based on their previous spam support history and by employing a variety of anti-spam and anti-virus tools, we are doing our part in reducing the problem. Please join us in the fight.
For our incoming emails, we use the following technologies:
- The Spamhaus project SBL blocklist filters mail from known spam sources around the world.
- The Spamhaus project XBL blocklist filters mail from exploited machines and open proxies.
- Clam AntiVirus filters email already on the server.
- Spamassassin analyzes each email and blocks emails based on their content.
The chart below shows the effectiveness of each of these open source, freely available tools and shows just how much spam reaches our servers every day (the graph resets at midnight, US central time).
